Your Strength Might Be the Bottleneck
Every business owner has an area of the business they naturally lean into.
For some, it is growth. Sales, marketing, lead generation, pipeline, and getting new customers in the door.
For others, it is delivery and fulfillment. The client experience, the customer journey, the quality of the work, and making sure people are taken care of.
For others, it is operations. Finance, HR, documentation, systems, processes, and the structure that keeps the business moving.
Most of us have one area we index toward because of our background, experience, strengths, or just the way we naturally see the business.
The problem is not that you have a strength.
The problem is when your strength becomes the only lens you use to see the business.
If you came from sales, you may try to solve every problem with more sales. If you came from delivery, you may spend all your time improving the customer experience while growth gets ignored. If you are operationally wired, you may keep tightening the systems while the business needs more demand.
That is where the shift from Rainmaker to Architect matters.
The Rainmaker usually says, “I guess I need to go do this myself.”
The Architect asks a different question.
Do I need to hire for this?
Do I need to build a system for this?
Do I need to create a process so this area of the business no longer depends on me?
So here is the thinking time question for this week:
Which area do you naturally lean into: growth, delivery and fulfillment, or operations?
And which area actually needs more of your attention right now?
Lead well and go be great,
Bradley
