Bradley’s Top 5 Favorite Books of 2022

“From legendary investor John Doerr comes the case for ambitious goal setting and meticulous execution.”
This book was very influential for me. Because I prefer priorities and outcomes over goals, the principle of setting OKRs was so powerful. Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) are how I now track growth in my own business. In fact, I’ve set up all of my coaching clients to do the same in their businesses.

“Doing well with money isn’t necessarily about what you know. It’s about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people.”
Along with Profit First, this is a phenomenal read for understanding money and how to use it. You could even be following Mike Michalowicz’s Profit First method, but if you constantly draw from your profit account, then it does not good to have one. This book teaches how to think about money and its use in your life and business. I’m sending it to everyone on my team for Christmas to support their growth in personal and business finances.

“Winning starts at your beginning. And your first hours are where the great heroes are made. Own your mornings and you’ll master your life.”
I didn’t understand for a long time why everyone was recommending this book. Then, I read it. It gives you practical systems and frameworks for accomplishing goals and realizing OKRs. I found this book extremely valuable, and now I recommend it too.

“Discover the secret to igniting a life-giving, soul-transforming, people-inspiring movement in your organization, church, or ministry.”
This book was written for a faith-based audience, but I went through this book with a group of entrepreneurs who found it extremely valuable for their businesses. Identify the “IT” that matters in your leadership, and get a fantastic walk around of workplace culture.

“In this instant and tenacious New York Times bestseller, Nike founder and board chairman Phil Knight “offers a rare and revealing look at the notoriously media-shy man behind the swoosh” (Booklist, starred review), illuminating his company’s early days as an intrepid start-up and its evolution into one of the world’s most iconic, game-changing, and profitable brands.”
My top takeaway from this book was to keep showing up and give time a chance to work. “Volume is the answer, and time is the ingredient.”
As a bonus, here are two other books I recommend from my 2022 reading list:
The Almanac of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness by Erik Jorgenson. It’s a free download, and worth your time.
The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World by John Mark Comer. A compelling emotional and spiritual case against hurry and in favor of a slower, simpler way of life.
